This is the perfect pick-me-up for breakfast, morning tea or afternoon tea! The banana and coffee gives you a great energy boost. You also receive a good dose of protein from the protein powder to keep you feeling full for longer. The cinnamon will help stabilise your blood sugar levels and the chia seeds and greek yoghurt give you a nice healthy serve of good fats.
I created this recipe when I stopped taking the pill.
One of the things you are recommended to do when helping your body recover from the pill is to cleanse your liver. This is because your liver is the detox organ for the body. It filters your blood and removes any non-beneficial substances such as pollutants, toxins and excess oestreogens. It has its work cut out for it when you stop taking the pill because it has to clear out all the excess hormones. I was overwhelmed about all the different foods which are beneficial for the liver. So I thought, ‘how about I put as many of these foods as I can into a smoothie, then I can just drink this a few times a week and know I’m benefiting my liver?’ (The fruit is mainly there to make it drinkable.)
This a delicious snack, and it’s perfect now that the weather is warming up. You can’t go wrong with the flavours in this smoothie bowl!
1 handful ice
1/4 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup filtered water
1 scoop/30g vanilla protein powder
1 large / 140g frozen banana, broken into chunks
2 dried dates
2 pinches Himalayan or sea salt
1 tsp maca
1/4 cup granola
A delicious and nutrient-packed red smoothie recipe to alternate with your favourite green smoothie recipe! There is so much goodness jammed into this smoothie. The beetroot provides your body with a stack of antioxidants and vitamins. Studies have found that beetroot can reduce blood pressure and inflammation. Ginger has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties. It aids digestion, relieves nausea, has anti-inflammatory effects and can ease cold and flu symptoms such as headaches and sore throats. Lemon is wonderful for your liver, the detox organ of the body. Cinnamon helps stabilise your blood sugar levels, to provide your body with a steady supply of energy and prevent cravings. Matcha green tea gives you a boost of energy, antioxidants and chlorophyll. All the different fruits and vegetables in this smoothie also provide your body with plenty of fibre to keep you regular.
This is a delicious, decadent smoothie which makes a filling and satisfying snack or breakfast.

Two of life’s simple pleasures: fresh popcorn and mountain views.
This has got to be one of the easiest things you could possibly make in the kitchen! I love to make homemade popcorn to take to the movies. Corn is a grain, so I recommend you eat it only occasionally as it’s not as nutrient-dense as others foods like vegetables, fruit, meat, nuts etc.
